Anthony F. Santiemmo, 71, died peacefully on Thursday, August 4th, 2023 at Journey Hospice Care in Barrington, IL, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born August 20th, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Anthony L. Santiemmo and Adeline (Ford) Santiemmo.
Anthony (Tony) graduated from Chicago’s Steinmetz High School, class of ‘70. Following graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Jean (Rosch) Santiemmo and moved to Burlington, Wisconsin, where he purchased and ran the Coach Lamp restaurant for several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved his dogs, and also loved to work. After selling the restaurant, he became an insurance agent and manager. He was quickly recognized for excellence in the insurance field through his teaching and mentoring of fellow brokers, and by exceeding his own sales records each year.
Tony and Patricia moved back to their original home in Antioch, Illinois, directly on the Chain of Lakes, enjoying many days on Lake Marie with their two children until they were grown. Tony and Patricia moved to Lafayette, Indiana, for a decade and later retired to McHenry, Illinois, to be closer to family.
Tony and Pat recently celebrated an amazing fifty years of marriage with family, including his daughter, Jennifer Dabrowski, son-in-law (Todd), and their children, Caden (15) and Rylan (13); his daughter, Nicole Zeppo, son-in-law (Michael), and their child, Rocco (8); in addition to many family and lifelong friends. Other surviving family (in-laws) include Judy (Rosch) and Ron Erickson; Teryl ann (Rosch) and Lee Snyder; and Mary Lou (Gawrysh) and Rob Gabl– as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tony will be greatly missed for many things– especially his wonderful sense of humor, playing and definitely winning various board games, cooking wonderful meals, and organizing and writing a fantastic family cookbook. His battle with serious medical issues over a 20 year period showed his courage in facing life challenges. Tony was admired for his resilience and remained strong until the end.
The wake starts at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 11:00 a.m. funeral mass that will be held at The Church of the Holy Apostles at 5211 Bull Valley Rd, McHenry, Illinois on Saturday, August 12th. Please use the back entrance on Cunat Dr., just off of Crystal Lake Rd., South of Bull Valley Rd.
