Bernadine Joan Kaska, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at her home in Ingleside, Illinois, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kaska on May 24, 2022.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 17, 1939 to Frank and Ann Lauten. As a young girl, she moved to Ingleside, Illinois.
Bernadine and Edward were high school sweethearts. They married on September 10, 1960 and celebrated over 62 years of marriage.
She was a devoted mother to Jeff (Julie) Kaska and Mark (Susan) Kaska. Bernadine always spoke of her family with an abundance of love and compassion. She took special joy in the special bond she had with her grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Kevin) Klipstein and Michael (Payton) Kaska. She was extremely proud to speak at Michael and Payton’s wedding just six weeks prior to her passing. She was a loving great-grandmother to Kaylee and Kaden Klipstein, whom she always referred to as her “little munchkins”.
She attended Gavin Grade School and graduated from Grant Community High School in 1957. She worked at “The Advertiser” newspaper in Antioch, Illinois for 40 years, as the office manager.
Bernadine was a loyal parishioner of St Bede Catholic Church for over 70 years. She was very active within the church for many years and held the title of secretary/treasurer of the St Bede Mother’s Club for some time. She, along with her husband, was very involved in Grant Township Little League and the Harmony Snowmobile Club, where she dedicated her time and also held the position of secretary/treasurer. The Illinois State Snowmobile Association was also privileged to have her hold a position on their board.
She leaves behind, many friends and neighbors whom she treasured. She always felt blessed with the out pouring of visits, gifts, dinners, flowers, etc…
There will be a memorial mass for Bernadine at St Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside, Illinois on Wednesday, the 4th day of December, at 10 o’clock.
