Deborah Ann Kunkel (Murphy) passed away peacefully on September 1, 2023 at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with her husband Larry at her side along with family and close friends.

Deborah was born on August 12, 1952 to Donald and Donna Murphy in Waukegan, IL. She grew up in Wauconda and graduated from Wauconda High School.

Deborah had a great love for her family and Irish heritage. She had a strong will towards her beliefs and did not mind sharing. The Kunkels enjoyed having an annual Ribfest at their home. Deborah was helpful to friends; loved her dogs; and supported the repopulation of the wolf pack in the Rocky Mountains. She had a passion for southwestern design elements along with old family artifacts in her home. She also enjoyed making Christmas wreaths for family and friends; attending State Fairs; and going to car races.

Deborah had many occupations prior to her retirement, her favorite as a moving consultant.

She resided in McHenry, IL and is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Larry Kunkel; siblings: Dennis (Cindy) Murphy, Michael (Kimberly) Murphy, Patrick (Karen) Murphy, and Maureen (Gregory) Karnauch; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Deborah was predeceased by her parents Don and Donna.

Deb we are heartbroken that you are gone but we are happy that you are home free and painless. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again. May you rest in peace.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on September 30th at River Ridge Church, 7664 Wilmot Road, Spring Grove, IL. A Celebration of Deborah’s life will be held following the service.
