Eric Steven Krachtus, 52, after battling brain cancer for 24 years, peacefully passed away early morning on June 13th, 2019, surrounded by his wife and children. He was a music enthusiast with a passion for classic rock. After falling in love with percussion, his many years of experience with air drums led to the purchase of a drum set (to the angst of his wife). But what he loved even more than rock n’ roll was spending quality time with his family and friends. His infectious laugh, positive attitude, and infamous humor made him a very popular and approachable person. As such with these wonderful traits, he was an accomplished salesman for Douglas TV and Abt for a combined 30 years. Despite the circumstances, he had always lived life to the fullest, making every moment count. He will be missed by all. Eric is survived by his parents, Frederick Krachtus and Cheryl Rotermund, his wife, Debbie Krachtus, and children, Carlie, Mandy, and Marty, his step sisters and brothers, Don (Gayle) Rotermund, Dan (Gina) Rotermund, Julie Nebel, Nancy (Garrett) Lane, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his brother, Kurt Krachtus.
Services in remembrance will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church 25225 W Ivanhoe Rd, Wauconda, IL 60084 on June 29th. There will be a time for conversation, coffee, and sweets from 9:30 am until the service begins at 11 am.
Per Eric’s wishes, his family will also host a celebration of his life on June 30th at their home 1915 Applewood Drive, Wauconda, IL 60084. There will be food, drinks, music, and many endearing stories. Please stop by anytime between 1 pm and 8 pm.
We’d love to see you at either one or both events. The family will be providing memory cards and ask that you please share your favorite memory/story of Eric. If you so which, donations can made to the American Brain Tumor Association in his memory.
