Eugene D. Kuntz – May 31, 1935 – November 4, 2023

Gene Kuntz of Antioch, IL entered into the presence of his beloved Savior, Christ Jesus, on November 4, 2023 after several months of a serious cancer diagnosis. He was a unique man, multi-talented and memorable as a science teacher at Niles North High School for 31 years and at Northwestern University. Gene would wear clothing with anatomical parts pictured on them when he taught anatomy.  He arranged special field trips to the morgue and was in awe of God’s amazing creation. He became a special friend to many of his students. Gene’s hobbies included building small motors, remote controlled models, steam engines and musical instruments (a pipe organ in his home and a calliope.) After retirement he travelled around the world twice and attended music box conventions, steam shows and other gatherings of interest to him. He shared his collections and hobbies with individuals and groups. He also spent two years teaching at a missionary school in Papua New Guinea.

Gene proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Moody Bible Institute where he met his wife Margaret (dec: 12/10/98).  He earned a Masters Degree and many other educational hours in the sciences. Perhaps the deepest joy of Gene’s life were the summers he spent in Muskegon Michigan at Maranatha Bible and Missionary Conference. He worked there many summers from his teen years on and eventually purchased a summer residence there where he became an icon on the campus to other residents and guests alike.  But more important than all Gene’s brilliance and accomplishments was his upbeat personality and love of people. He was always ready with a joke, a grin and chuckle.  He was genuinely concerned about the eternal welfare of people’s souls and gladly offered a listening ear. Gene leaves behind his much-loved family: Son Marty (Debbie) Kuntz, Daughter Bonnie Kuntz, Granddaughter Jessica (Nate) Miller, 2 great-grandchildren Seraphina and Noah and numerous other close family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday November 18, 2023 with a visitation with the family at 10:00am at Crossview Church 750 Highview Dr.  Antioch, IL. 60002.  Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Crossview Church.
