Iris Sarkesian (nee Masropian) 82, passed away Sunday April 18, 2021 in Cape Coral, FL. She was the youngest of 6 siblings born January 30, 1939 in Windsor, Ontario Canada.

She loved music and enjoyed singing in the church choir and was a member of the Rejoice Singers for 25 years. She was an avid animal lover and loved feeding squirrels and birds in her backyard. Iris loved swimming, she wanted to be just like Esther Williams in the Zigfield Follies movies. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family, and loved to read, her favorite books were mystery novels, especially Agatha Christie, and she absolutely adored the Hallmark channel.

Iris was survived by her sister Rosemary Kaczynski; her daughters: Michelle (Mark) Schultz, Roxane Abbate, Alice (Randy) Aksamit; her grandchildren: Melanie Schultz, Hannah Aksamit, Samantha Abbate, Grace Aksamit, Connor Schultz, Isabel Aksamit and Joshua Abbate.

Family meant everything to Iris, she spent most of her life as a homemaker. Later, she had part time jobs as a secretary, administrative assistant and manager of a fast food restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Sarkesian of 52 years, brother Gerald (Lillian) Masropian, sisters; Rose (Jake) Margosian, Alice (Art) Kuderian, Elsie (Melvin) Percy, brother in law; Ron Kaczynski, son in law; Joseph Abbate.

Visitation will be Friday April 23, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Northern Illinois Funeral Services, Inc 31632 N. Ellis Dr., unit 208 Volo, Il 60073. 847-833-2928. She will be laid to rest Saturday April 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.

In lieu of flowers donations are welcome to Orchard Church in Iris’s name.
