James (Jim) Martin Solger of Glenview, IL was called home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2025. Jim was born on June 24, 1963 in Chicago, IL to Raymond & Carol Solger. Jim was a skilled painter and a true “jack of all trades”. He spent his life working in construction, doing anything from building walls to the final finishing touches, putting his mark of excellence on anything he did.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Carol Solger. Jim was an avid animal lover who left behind his beloved dog Cassava. He loved to be outdoors and could be seen riding his Harley anytime he had the chance or bicycling down lake shore drive to visit the Chicago lakefront. Jim was always excited to show his family the latest hiking spot he had discovered, which often times was off the beaten path, something only Jim could find. Jim will be remembered for his outgoing free spirit, fun loving ways and caring soul. Jim leaves a legacy of love and will forever be with us.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory two children, Karina (Michael) Carney and James Solger, three sisters Debbie Kowalczyk, Kathy King and Beth (Eugene) Ecxford, two grandsons, Raiden & Riley Carney, many nieces and nephews along with a number of great nieces and nephews which include, Michael (Christina) Kowalczyk, Nicholas Kowalczyk, Zachary Kowalczyk, Brittany (Josh) Boller, Jasmine Ramsey, and Jessica (James) Quartey, Lyle, Jared, Jules, Brynlee, Brooklynn and Waylon.

A private celebration of life for Jim will be held at a later date at one of his favorite hiking destinations.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Border Tails Rescue. You can visit their website at bordertailsrescue.org or they can be found on Facebook. When donating, please list in the comment section “In honor of James Solger / Cassava”.
