John W. Carter, 68 loving husband and father passed away August 10, 2021 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. John worked in the steel business for 50 years, most of them at Bohler-Uddeholm. He was primarily in sales, taking great pride in building up the distributor side of the business, making long lasting friendships with co-workers and clients.
In his spare time, he was a philatelist and numismatist, collecting old and new stamps, coins and paper currency from foreign countries. He was fascinated with their beauty, uniqueness and use of metals and other materials. For over 22 years, at Christmas and Easter, John would play Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for children with special needs. Easter Seals, Adult & Child Rehab and Make a Wish were his favorite place to be, it warmed his heart seeing the smiles and joy on the children’s faces when “Santa” would arrive, and the laughter and fun when the E.B. would hop around and play games with them. Some years Santa and the Easter Bunny would appear at larger family gatherings to delight the young and older members of his family.
John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Diane, daughters; Tia and Tasha, son; John III; grandchildren; John IV & Abby, Mother; Louise, sister; Joanne (Mike), many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
John was a private person and to honor his wishes inurnment will be private with the family. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, he felt that no child should have to endure what he has gone through the last four years. We would like to thank all the wonderful people at The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, especially Dr. Pisick and his compassionate staff. Through the, our Lord granted us 3 more years than the original diagnosis by doctors. We were blessed to enjoy extra time with John and will forever be grateful to God and CTCA for that opportunity.
The family would love for you to share some stories about John in the Guestbook.
