Katheryn S. “Kit” Davies (nee Stewart) died peacefully on July 29, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Kit was born on June 11, 1928 in Washington Court House, Ohio

Kit was married to Richard “Dick” Beck Davies on 8/16/1948 in Springfield, Ohio where in their early years of marriage Dick worked for Olan Mills as a photographer & Kit worked there as a receptionist & later as a model for Olan Mills.
From there they made their way to Oak Park, IL where their 3 sons Stewart, Michael & Peter were born. Dick landed a job at Ma Bell which is now AT & T as a lineman & worked his way up to an electrical engineer & was eventually promoted to Chief Engineer at AT & T.

They resided in Glen Ellen for about 10 years & then moved to Long Grove, IL.
Kit opened an antique shop after setting up residency in Long Grove called The Barn, she had a deep passion for antiques & was an avid collector of Blue Willow & antique clocks & other antiquities, she was very knowledgeable when it came to collectables & loved collecting them & giving them to the family & friends she loved
Kit was instrumental in stopping the Village of Kildeer from putting a major thoroughfare through their sleepy little town of Long Grove, she had no problem with progress as long as it didn’t affect individual’s livelihoods.
In 1965 the family made their final move to Prairie Grove, IL.
She once again knew the importance of a strong community & went door to door with her petition in hand to stop the gravel trucks from roaring through the unincorporated area where they had made their home & worked diligently with her spouse Dick to establish the village of Prairie Grove in 1973
She went on to become involved in Prairie Grove School District 47 for years, she served on the school board & even dabbled in politics & ran for a trustee position in Prairie Grove at one point
Kit worked alongside her spouse Dick later in their marriage & ran the Villa Olivia ski school with her spouse Dick in Bartlett, IL. Dick was a ski instructor at the school as were their 3 children, Peter, Jamie & Tracy.
Kit loved our Chicago teams & was often found rooting for her Chicago Bears & our notorious Chicago Cubs.
Kit & Dick loved to talk politics especially if it was an election year & there were many times a lively conversation would ensue!
When Kit served on our local school board the importance of a solid education was always a priority. She was well known in Prairie Grove which she called her home for 56 yrs.
She was a member of The Children’s Home & Aid Society for years & loved being involved in their annual fund raiser & her famous signature cheeseballs that they would sell for years & years.
