Marilynn Wilson, 85, of Lakemoor, was peacefully called home to God on March 3, 2025, at Thrive of Lake County in Mundelein, IL. She was born in Chicago on July 19, 1939, the eldest daughter of Joseph and Rose (Kotowicz) Dulicek.
Marilynn was a proud Chicagoan through and through, growing up traveling on the beloved CTA from school, accordion practice, softball games, and running errands with her cherished parents and sisters. Marilynn graduated from St. Barbara High School in Chicago in 1956.
After receiving the calling to enter religious life as a young woman, Marilynn attended Loyola University and began her journey to taking her vows. In her novitiate period, Marilynn was a dedicated servant to the Servite Sisters and traveled around, teaching at Catholic schools in Illinois, Nebraska and New York. Before taking her Perpetual vows, Marilynn had a calling to leave the convent and return to being a layperson. Not long after returning to her familial home, Marilynn met her family’s downstairs tenant, a young veteran named Clyde Wilson, and they fell in love.
Married on April 15, 1967, Marilynn and Clyde had two children, Sharon and Joseph, and built a life together in Streamwood, IL. Marilynn’s love and care for children was fostered in her time in the Order, and eventually led to a thriving at-home daycare business in married life. This allowed her the time and flexibility to be the dedicated mother and wife she was proud to be. Never far from a cup of black coffee (with ice!!), Marilynn loved to cook and create new recipes, spend time working on crossword puzzle books, and run errands to her beloved “half-priced store.”
In her later years, Marilynn was an extremely present and dedicated Nana to Katie and Connor, taking care of them since newborns and attending every band or dance performance, awards ceremony, or just spending the day with them when home sick from school. During the pandemic lockdown, Marilynn and her grandchildren would spend their days together doing puzzles, working on crafts, and watching hours of ‘Jeopardy’ and other game shows.
Marilynn is survived by her children, Sharon (Joseph) Rada and Joseph (Karren) Wilson, grandchildren Katherine and Connor Rada, sister Arlene Justin, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, parents Rose (Kotowicz) and Joseph Dulicek, sister Rosalind and brother-in-law Anthony Justin, Jr.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Bede worship site, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside, IL 60041. Family will begin welcoming guests at 9:30am, with the funeral mass at 10:00am.
Interment will take place with family on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, where Marilynn and Clyde will be reunited in their final resting place.
