Marvin W. Bridges Jr. 91 passed away peacefully September 11, 2021. He was born June 24, 1930 in Clarinda, IA to Marvin Sr. and Esther (Smith) Bridges. Marvin attended Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, MA, he then went to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE-Sigma Chi Fraternity where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1952. He joined the Air Force and then became a Captain serving with the Strategic Air Command. He then went back to college at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA earning his Masters of Business Administration in 1958. He worked at First National Bank of Omaha, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in San Francisco, CA, Stein Roe and Farnham where he was a partner and CFA in Chicago. He gave a part of himself to everyone he met. He was a great encourager and collector of information that he loved to pass onto others. He had a brilliant mind and an unlimited capacity for details. People appreciated his kindness and gentle manner. He was passionate, thankful and humble about acknowledging the Lord in all aspects of his life.

Marvin is survived by his “darling” wife, Diane (Chodil-Jackson) Bridges of 36 years, they enjoyed many years in Sun Valley, ID traveling here and abroad especially riding the rails, Nebraska football, (Go Big Red!) and simple gatherings with friends and family. He is also survived by his loving children; Amy (David) Lawrence, Ann (David) Bruce, stepchildren; Dave (Cindy) Jackson, Sharon (John) Lamar, Paul (Cathy) Jackson, Melanie (Eric) Arnold, Dan (Annie) Jackson, beloved grandchildren; Kirsten and Kyle Leyh, Harmony (Sean) Parker, Quinn (Joy) Lawrence, Jacob and Jameson Bruce, step grandchildren; Luke (Brenna) Lamar, Amanda Arnold, Grant (Natalie) Jackson, Jackson (Tasha) Lamar, Kelly (Ben) Rupert, Clark (Madison) Jackson, Victoria Jackson, Ben (Amanda) Lamar, Pauline Jackson, Evan Arnold, Daniel (Madison) Lamar, Madeline Jackson, Step great grandchildren; Carter Jackson, Henry Rupert and Grace Jackson, brother; Edson (Sally) Bridges, nephews; Ted (Tracy) and Robert (Elizabeth) Bridges, niece; Jennifer Hicks.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 am on Friday September 24, 2021 at The Orchard Arlington Heights Church 1330 N. Douglas Ave, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Inurnment will be private at Memory Gardens after the service.
