Michael Bruce (Mike) Kramer, 69, of Grayslake, IL died December 7, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family including his wife of 46 years. A memorial service will be held at the Village Church of Gurnee. On Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10 AM, with a visitation prior at 9 AM. Masks and social distancing required. The service will also be live streamed at http://vcgurnee.aspireonemedia.com/6181/6182/26565. A private burial will be held at Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City, IL.
Mike was born on October 2, 1951 in Danville, IL to David and Norma Lee Kramer and grew up in Gibson City, IL where he graduated in 1969. Mike married his Monmouth college sweetheart, Ann Doherty on June 15, 1974. Upon graduating, they moved to Monticello, IL where Mike worked for his family newspaper business. In 1982, they moved to Edina, MN where they raised their family for the next 21 years. Mike started the MN Real Estate Journal before selling it in 1997 to the Law Bulletin Media in Chicago. At the time of his death, Mike was President of Law Bulletin Media in Chicago and lived in Grayslake, IL since 2005.
Mike is survived by his wife Ann Doherty, daughter Megan Wilroy (Blair) of Kildeer, IL and son Andrew Kramer (Katherine) of Lake Zurich and grandchildren Emma and Jackson Wilroy and Sadie and Natalie Kramer; brother Mark Kramer (Tina) of Downers Grove, IL and sister Lisa Kramer of Bloomington, IL and four-legged friend Piper.
Mike served his communities all his life. He was Chairman of the IL Press Association Government Affairs committee and received the Distinguished Service Award in 2019. While in MN, Mike was President of the Edina Morningside Rotary Club and was co-chair of the Edina Public Schools Excess Levy Referendum. Mike’s a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
