Michael W. Wimer, 76, passed away at home in Wauconda, IL, on November 27, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Wimer, his sons, Richard Grandt of Nashville, TN, Robert (Deanna) Grandt of Spring Grove, IL, and his daughter, Kimberly Wimer of Wauconda, IL. Grandfather to Ryan, Alyssa, and Brianne Grandt. Dear brother to Marcie (Darryl) Akiona.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (1953), and his sister, Michele (2013).

Mike was born on April 19, 1945, in Sheridan, WY.

In the late 70s and early 80s Mike enjoyed racing Sprint cars in Wilmot, WI. His enthusiasm for motor sports was passed on to his kids at an early age. Dirt bikes and golf carts were a staple in the Wimer household growing up.

Mike spent most of his life as an owner/operator of his trucking company hauling freight throughout the United States. He was best known as “Quicksilver” on the CB. There wasn’t a route in the country that “Quicksilver” couldn’t tell you how to drive from memory.

Mike was well known for his extreme knowledge as a diesel mechanic and could often be found under the hood of his rigs or fielding calls from his friends seeking advice.

Mike was comforted by his beloved westies, Jasper and Wrigley. They were his best friends and his constant companions.

In lieu of flowers, the Wimer family asks that you make a donation to the Wisconsin Westie Rescue. Donations can be made by check, to Wisconsin Westie Rescue (or WWR), note Mike’s name in the memo and mailed to 819 E Brandybrook Rd, Wales, WI, 53183.
