Oma Frank Smith, Jr, 75, of Crystal Lake passed peacefully from this life into eternal life on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at The Fountains At Crystal Lake assisted living facility.
Born: Frank was born in Manhattan, NY September 11, 1945, the son of Oma Sr and Edith Smith-both deceased
Military: Frank was a US Army veteran and proudly served his country for 4 years and served in Vietnam War.
Family: Franks brother Chuck (Mary Ann), Franks sister Alverta Nelson, also daughter Kristen Smith, son Ryan Smith, daughter Stephanie Smith (all still living). Beloved Grandfather and Uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Frank will forever be remembered in his last few years on this earth as Oma Smith while he resided at The Fountains for his last 8 years of his life. The staff and nurses knew him best as Oma. As that was what he preferred while living there. In his professional years as a computer programmer and prior, he was known as Frank Smith by family and friends. He always had a quick witt, high intellect and so many jokes to offer up some good laughter to anyone and everyone that encountered him. He had a great smile and loved listening to music, watching TV and all types of movies. It was his main interest during his retired years to entertain family and friends with an abundance of movies and jokes to continue on his legacy and remain unforgettable.
Services: Due to Covid, no arrangements are announced at this time. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
