Raul Lira, 82 of Wonder Lake, IL passed away peacefully at home March 2, 2025, and is now with his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a very much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed very much.

Raul is survived by his wife Maria of 53 years; and his children, Gabriela Lira (Paul Nehlen), Natalia Lira, Elsa Tovorak (Joe), Eduardo Lira; grandchildren Celeste Saldana (Ruben), Rebecca Hernandez, Isaac Hernandez, Abigail Hernandez, Adriana Lischewski (Jack), Aiden Lira, Kayla Lira and Evelyn Lira; great-grandchildren Ruben Saldana, Crystal Saldana, Roman Saldana; brothers and sisters Mario (Laly) Lira, Juan (Rosa) Lira, Roberto (Bonnie) Lira, Raquel (Jesus) Vasquez, Idalia Lira; and many friends and extended family members. Raul was proceeded in death by his brothers Rogelio Lira, Armando Lira and sister Rosa De Los Santos.

Raul was born December 23, 1942, in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico. In 1954 he moved to Racine Wisconsin with his parents where he started working on a farm as a youth with his family and then traveled for various farm jobs as a young man. In December 1971, he and Maria were married. That same year he started his career with Brickman Landscaping Group in Long Grove IL, this is where his love and knowledge of nature really blossomed, after almost 35 years in landscape construction and design he retired in 2005. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Raul’s family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone that helped take care of Raul, particularly including the staff of Journey Care Hospice (Paul, Trista, Leah) for their care and compassion.

A service will be held on Saturday March 8, 2025, at 12pm at Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home 515 Center Street Lake Geneva, WI; with burial to be held after at Oak Hill Cemetery 1101 Cemetery Road Lake Geneva, WI.
