Richard (Dick) Lee Pelz – November 25, 1939 – November 12, 2023
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, brother and Uncle.
Dick graduated Blairsburg (Iowa) High School in 1957. He was active in 4H and cherished his farm upbringing heritage.
He served the United States Army from 1958-1960. He was stationed in Germany and also served with Elvis Presley.
Dick worked with the Webster City Iowa Public Works from 1961 to 1974. He moved to Lake Bluff, IL in 1974 to be the Public Works Superintendent. He was also a volunteer fireman for Webster City and Lake Bluff. He retired in 1994 and then moved to DeSoto, WI, Dick was and avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, trapping, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed sharing all of his bounty with family and friends. It was very important to share his knowledge of the outdoors and gardening with his family. Dick and his wife Barbara were together for 30 wonderful years. They spent their winters in Everglades City, Florida continuing to enjoy fishing and new friends
Dick is survived by his wife Barbara Pelz, children daughter Kristine Miller (Steve), Richard, Ross (Luann), Jamie, DeAnn Mandas (Jim), Chandra Allen (Christopher), Heather D’Andrea (BJ), Angie Serna (Logan). His Sisters Patricia Pelz (Michael Spain) and Sheri Fagervick (Roger). He has 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Alma Pelz, and his brothers Robert Pelz and Jack Pelz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday November 20, 2023 from 5:00-9:00pm at Lake Lodge, 2601 Saddlebrook Dr., Grayslake, IL 60030.
There will also be a service on Saturday December 9, 2023 in Blairsburg Iowa at United Church of Christ, 405 2nd St. with a luncheon following at Blairsburg Opera House.
