James Jack Rubino (Jim) of Wauconda, IL, 88 years old, peacefully passed with family at his side, on February 25, 2022. Born on February 16, 1934, to James and Emma (Mary) Rubino (nee Tomajko) in Chicago, Illinois. He was the youngest of 8 siblings. He is survived by his wife MaryAnn, his children Theresa, the late Carol Finley, James Jr and Maria, his grandsons Tyler and Liam and granddaughter Bailie. Jim was also an uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jim will be fondly remembered by his family and the many friends he had the privilege of knowing throughout his life. He graduated from Harrison High School, Chicago, in 1952. Soon after graduation, Jim enlisted and became a proud member of the United States Navy. Jim met the love of his life, MaryAnn, at a friend’s wedding. They were an extraordinary couple, as well as exceptional dance partners. They especially enjoyed dancing the jitterbug and polkas. Their strong unwavering love for each other is evident in their 63 years of marriage. Jim held various Office Management positions throughout his life. After retiring, he began his new career at his most cherished job, Cashier for Dominick’s Foods. Customers would wait in line for him because it was guaranteed that Jim would have shared a kind word to help brighten up their day, tell them a joke or share a secret family recipe. He loved trying to put a smile on peoples’ faces. Jim was passionate about sports and not only loved playing softball, baseball, basketball, bowling, horseshoes and golf competitively, but also loved teaching and playing these sports with his family as well. Jim loved and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandsons and granddaughter. He loved working the garden and property, barbecuing on the grill, and playing a fun game of bocce ball on warm summer days. He enjoyed sharing tips with his grandsons making sure their golf swing was just right, attending their school and sporting events, and one’s recent interest in learning and playing guitar. Jim lived a full life, rich with family, laughter and love. Jim was a longtime member of St. Casmir, St. Angela, St. Collette, St. Theresa and Transfiguration Church(s) and he proudly served in the Knights of Columbus. Jim held an unwavering faith in God and belief in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was an extraordinary example to anyone that met him. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters, and his daughter Carol Finley. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 07, 2022 Mass Service is at 10:30-11:30 am, with visitation 1 hour prior to the mass service at: Transfiguration Parish, 316 W Mill Street, Wauconda, IL 60084 Luncheon following funeral mass at 12:00 pm Inurnment will be private at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL
