Robert W. Seelbach, born January 15th, 1924 of Lake Barrington, Illinois beloved husband of Lieselotte Seelbach passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2023. Bob was 99 years old. Born in Pine Lawn, Missouri, he spent his childhood growing up on a farm in Columbia, Missouri. He served in the Army as a Medical technician in world WWII. He served a tour in the Ardennes Region in Central Europe, specifically Rhineland where he fought in “The Battle at Remagan”. He was awarded three bronze stars and a purple heart. After the war, he graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was recruited by Underwriters Laboratories in Chicago where he was a successful businessman advancing in the organization to become the Senior Vice President of Engineering and a company officer. He loved his family, traveling the world, and playing golf which he did until he was 92 years old. Bob loved spending time with his beloved wife, four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him so much joy. He and his brother James were very close. He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Seelbach, his brother James Seelbach, as well as his loving son in law Randy K. Dickson. He is survived by his four children, Robert W. Seelbach Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Thomas J. Seelbach of La Marque, TX, Mary J. (Seelbach) Dickson/Chuck Rodifer of Bull Valley, IL and Cathy (Seelbach) (John) Boruch of Gold Canyon, AZ and four grandchildren Wesley (Sharon) Dickson of Algonquin, IL, Lindsay (Giuseppe) DiFronzo of Prairie Grove, IL, Thomas J. Seelbach Jr. of Owens Cross Roads, AL, and Robert W. Seelbach III of La Marque, TX. He is also survived by four great grandchildren. Bob’s passing is a tremendous loss to his family and friends and he will be missed by all. He was an amazing man who believed the secret to a long life is “always have something to look forward to”. |
